The model 890CL is a member of the 890C family of versatile fuel cell test systems. These host computer-controlled instruments consist of a programmable electronic load, fuel flow and temperature controls, and data acquisition functions in a compact rack mount or bench top unit. The 890CL series loads are targeted at small to medium size (up to 500W) single fuel cell or low-power stack research for laboratory and educational use.
The model 890CL optimizes cost and size, and offers maximum value from extra hardware features and the powerful FuelCell® software. The 890CL uses the same 32-bit microprocessor as the 890C combined with improved accuracy and thermal drift.
The FuelCell® host software package is included for operation of the 890CL. The 890CL is for use with a fuel cell (MEA assembly), custom or third-party fuel management unit, and optional model 880 frequency response analyzer (FRA). An optional, extra cost, interface box may be supplied for non-integrated fuel system designs.
- Optional, internal 880 FRA for full range impedance measurement to 10 KHz
- Constant current, voltage, or power control mode. Dynamic Experiment Editor
- Automatic shutdown in hardware for overcurrent, undervoltage, overpower, load temperature, and cell temperature conditions
- Current interrupt cell resistance measurement
- Multifunction front panel text display with function select button
- Connector for 890C fuel interface box or Teledyne Medusa fuel unit
- High impedance whole cell and reference electrode sense inputs
- Cell main terminals and sense inputs tolerant of non-isolated cell
- Standard with three internal temperature controllers
- Analog input/output ports for two mass flow controllers (or DMFC pump, see options)
- Low voltage output to control fuel and purge gas valves
- Contact inputs for pressure sensors and alarms
- Remote operation from IEEE488 (GPIB) interface configured from front panel
- RS485 digital interface for eight external temperature controllers
