Scribner Associates, Inc. (Southern Pines, North Carolina, USA) introduces the Model 885 Fuel Cell Potentiostat for use with the company’s fuel cell test systems.
The 885 Fuel Cell Potentiostat raises the standard for automation and integration of high-performance potentiostat functionality with fuel cell test system. Costing much less
than comparable 2 Amp potentiostats, the 885 is fully-integrated with Scribner’s 840, 850 and 890 Fuel Cell Test Systems and operated through FuelCell® software.
Complete integration with the rest of the fuel cell test system eliminates the need to switch leads between the load and potentiostat. When combined with Scribner’s Automated Multi-Gas Switching Unit, the test system can be configured for hands-free switching between normal H2/Air fuel cell operating mode and a diagnostic mode requiring other gases such H2/N2.
The 885 Fuel Cell Potentiostat installs in minutes and can be added to a customer’s existing test system to enhance flexibility, performance and diagnostics capabilities.
The 885 is designed for potentiostatic and potentiodynamic experiments for all types of fuel cells. For example, the 885 is ideally suited for conducting common voltammetry experiments on H2 and other PEM fuel cells for in-situ evaluation of fuel crossover rate and electrical short by linear sweep voltammetry, as well as electrochemical surface area and catalyst utilization by cyclic voltammetry. The 885 is also suitable for potential cycling experiments, for example PEMFC electrode catalyst and support durability testing. The excellent current resolution of the instrument also allows improved low-current Tafel measurement while reference electrode inputs facilitate half-cell measurements.
