740 Membrane Test System
The 740 Membrane Test System (MTS) is a fully integrated platform for accurate, repeatable measurement of ionic conductivity and in-plane/through‑plane resistance in polymer electrolyte membranes.
Designed for controlled gas, humidity, temperature, and pressure environments, the 740 MTS provides researchers with clean transport data without full fuel cell assembly.
How It Fits in Your Workflow
The 740 MTS delivers high‑resolution membrane transport data that can inform downstream research and development, including:
- Fuel cell and electrolyzer materials optimization
- Ionomer formulation comparisons
- Durability and hydration studies
- Inputs into full MEA and stack testing
Pair the 740 MTS with Scribner test systems, potentiostats, and impedance tools for full material‑to‑device insight.

ADVANCED FEATURES
Engineered for precision and repeatability, the 740 Membrane Test System combines controlled environments, integrated measurement hardware, and software-driven automation to deliver clean, reliable conductivity and resistance data for polymer electrolyte membranes:
-
- Controlled temperature & humidity environments — Accurate dew point, relative humidity, and sample temperature control for data relevant to real electrochemical operation.
-
- Integrated gas handling & mixing — Wet/dry gas streams and N₂ purge capability for precise reactant environment control and safe operation.
-
- Four‑electrode conductivity measurement — In‑plane conductivity technique minimizes interfacial artifacts to isolate true membrane transport resistance.
-
- Software‑driven automation — CorrWare® software sequences tests, automates data capture, and integrates with standard impedance analysis tools.
-
- Repeatable & reliable sample setup — Spring‑loaded compression stack up to 400 PSI with quick, simple assembly for minimal sample prep.
-
- Safety & system protections — Cell lock feature and automatic shutdown with integrated N₂ purge on alarm conditions ensure secure, unattended testing.

PRECISION IN THE DETAILS
Enhance your lab setup with accessories and cell fixtures designed for accuracy, repeatability, and ease of use. These add-ons ensure optimal performance, tailored configurations, and seamless integration with your core system—because every detail matters.
The BT-112 brings in-plane membrane conductivity measurement into your existing test system, using the hardware you already have to control temperature, humidity, gas type, and pressure around the sample. The four-electrode technique reports only ionic transport resistance — not contact resistance, not charge-transfer resistance — so the number you get is actually the membrane’s conductivity, not a composite artifact of how it was assembled. No separate environmental chamber needed.
The BT-115 is the BT-112 for use with ElectroChem hardware — same four-electrode in-plane conductivity measurement, same rigor, same ability to use your existing test system for environmental control instead of maintaining a separate chamber setup. Results are methodologically identical to BT-112 data, so cross-lab and literature comparisons hold.
