This Privacy Notice describes the information Scribner, LLC (“Scribner”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, how we use and retain this information, with whom we share it, and the choices you have in connection with these activities. This Privacy Notice applies to our website, https://www.scribner.com/ (the “Website”), in-person at an event, or through other digital products or services on which this Privacy Notice is posted (collectively, the “Services”).
- PERSONAL INFORMATION WE
When you interact with our Services, we collect your personal information. Personal information is information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual.
We will collect your personal information when you:
- Contact Us.
- Call us. When you call us, we will collect your identifiers (name), and employment information (business telephone number, business email address, business mailing and billing address), and any other information you provide to us on the call. With your consent, we will also collect your auditory information (a recording of the telephone call), which we will use for training and quality assurance purposes. We will also use the information collected on the call to contact you in the future about the purpose for your call.
- Email us. When you email us, we will collect your identifiers (name), employment information (business telephone number, business email address, business mailing and billing address), and any other information you provide to us through our email communication.
- Submit a Support ticket. When you submit a support ticket through the Website, we will collect your identifier (name), employment information (company name, business email address) and commercial information (product, serial number), the subject and details of the support ticket request, and any documentation you upload with your ticket. We use this information to respond to your questions or inquiries, troubleshoot where necessary, and address any issues you have with our hardware or software.
- Make a Purchase. When you make a purchase, we collect from you your personal identifiers (name), employment information (employer name, business email address, business telephone number, country/region, and physical address), financial information (bank account and routing number), and any additional information you choose to include in your correspondence with us as part of the purchase order, contract negotiation, and/or customer service process. We use this information to process your purchase, to facilitate payment to Scribner, to send you a receipt or invoice of your purchase, and provide customer service or process a warranty claim for you.
- Interact with us at an event. When you interact with us at an event, we will collect your identifiers (name) and employment information (company name, business email address, business telephone number) in order to correspond with you in the future about our products and services and answer your correspondence.
- Sign up for our marketing communications. When you are added to our email marketing communications, we collect, from you, your identifiers (name) and employment information (business email address). We use this information to send you product and services updates, news, and event opportunities. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect moving forward by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of each email we send or by emailing us at info@scribner.com. Our emails include a tracking pixel that tracks whether you open the email and whether you click banners in the email and your subsequent clicks and usage of our Website. We use this information to send you additional email communications which may be of interest to you, based on your interaction with our emails and/or Website.
- Automatic Data Collection via the Website. In addition to the personal information you provide directly to us, collect information automatically as you use our Website. We use essential, functional, analytics, and advertising cookies to collect your internet or other electronic network activity information (device, usage, location information (determined through your IP address), such as your browsing history, configuration, unique online identifiers, and interactions with our ads on third-party websites), when you interact with the Website. We use this information to: (i) track you within the Website; (ii) enhance user experience; (iii) conduct analytics to improve the Website; (iv) prevent fraudulent use of the Website; (v) diagnose and repair Website errors, and, in cases of abuse, track and mitigate the abuse; and (vi) market to you more effectively across different web pages and social media platforms. In general, to disable cookies and limit the collection and use of information through them, you can set your browser to refuse cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. When you opt-out, an opt-out cookie will be placed on your device. The opt-out cookie is browser and device specific and will only last until cookies are cleared from your browser or device. Particular third-party cookies to note on our Website include:
- Interact with us on social media. When you interact with our web pages on social networking websites, such as Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn (each, a “Social Media Page”) (collectively, “Social Media Pages”), we collect basic engagement metrics and use it to tailor content and marketing as set forth in this section. Please note that we do not control the use or storage of the information that you have posted to any Social Media Page. This information is collected and processed by the social networking websites for their own purposes, including marketing. For more information on how Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn use your personal information, please see Facebook’s Privacy Policy, YouTube’s Privacy Policy, and LinkedIn’s Privacy Policy.
- Social Media Pages. When interacting with our Social Media Pages, we may collect, from you, your personal identifiers (name, social media handle, and profile picture) as well as any information that you provide when interacting with our Social Media Pages (e.g. commenting, sharing and rating). We may use this information to communicate with users. Because our Social Media Pages are publicly accessible, when you use them to interact with other users, for example by posting, leaving comments or liking or sharing posts, any personal information that you post in them or provide when registering can be viewed by others or used by them as they see fit. The content posted on our Social Media Pages or other public areas of social networking websites can be deleted in the same way as other content that you have created.
- Community Management. With the help of a third party, we collect, from you, your interactions, including “likes”, shares, messages and other interactions with the content, in order to analyze and evaluate how our content is perceived, to learn from it, and to improve our social media and marketing efforts.
- Direct Messages. When using Facebook Messenger or other direct message capabilities on Social Media Pages, the applicable Social Media Page collects, automatically, your (IP address, date and time of the server request, time zone, specific browser or app function, access status, amount of data transferred, browser or app from which the request comes, device type, operating system used, and its interface (e.g. Android or IOS), language, version of the operating system, and device identifiers). We do not use this information; its use is governed by the applicable Social Media Page’s Privacy Policy, a hyperlink to which is available above.
- LinkedIn Messenger. When using LinkedIn or other direct message capabilities on Social Media Pages, the applicable Social Media Page collects, automatically, your internet or other electronic network activity information (IP address, date and time of the server request, time zone, specific browser or app function, access status, amount of data transferred, browser or app from which the request comes, device type, operating system used, and its interface (e.g. Android or IOS), language, version of the operating system, and device identifiers). We do not use this information; its use is governed by the applicable Social Media Page’s Privacy Policy, a hyperlink to which is available above.
- Facebook Page Insights. When you visit our Facebook Social Media Page, Facebook records your IP address and other information about your usage behavior on our Facebook Social Media Page. Facebook collects, through trackers in the browser of your device or via the advertising ID (IDFA from Apple or GAID from Google), when you open the Facebook app through your mobile device (e.g. smartphone or tablet). Facebook uses this information to create statistical evaluations for us of the use of the Social Media Page. We receive this information, from Facebook, in the form of aggregated data and anonymous statistics regarding things like: age, gender, city/country, device, inquiries from fans about other Facebook fan pages, region and language settings of the users, proportion of men and women, the number of people reached, clicks on posts, “Likes” and reactions, comments and shared content, and total video views. We do not collect or process any other personal information in connection with the page insights. We do not retain this information independently. It has been contractually agreed with Facebook that Facebook is responsible for providing you with information about the processing for Page Insight
- Information Processed Solely by Facebook. We do not know how Facebook uses personal information for its own purposes, how long the personal information is stored on Facebook or whether Facebook data is passed on to third parties. If you are currently logged in to Facebook as a user, Facebook automatically collects, through trackers on your device, your Facebook ID or a link between the Facebook ID and the advertising ID (IDFA from Apple or GAID from Google) when you open the Facebook app through your mobile device (e.g. smartphone or tablet). This enables Facebook to understand that you have visited our Facebook Social Media Page along with other Facebook pages that you have clicked on, whether you clicked on Facebook buttons integrated into websites that partner with Facebook, and other online interactions that report user data to Facebook. Based on this data, content or advertising tailored to you can be offered. - Aggregate data. We aggregate the data we collect for benchmarking purposes, marketing purposes, and for internal analytics. We maintain and use this data in deidentified form. We will not attempt to reidentify the data, unless it is necessary to determine whether our deidentification processes satisfy applicable data protection laws.
Scribner will also use the personal information we collect as described in this section to comply with the law, to efficiently maintain our business, and for other limited circumstances as described in HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.
- DATA RETENTION
We may need to use and retain your personal information for longer than the periods indicated above for purposes of:
- Compliance with our legal obligations. For example, retaining your records for the purpose of accounting, dispute resolution, and compliance with labor, tax, and financial regulations.
- Meeting our safety and security commitments. Such as keeping our properties secure and preventing fraud.
- Exercising or defending legal claims. We also may need to retain information for longer than the terms in order to meet with legal process or enforceable governmental request.
- HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
- General Sharing
Scribner shares personal information in the following instances:
- Within Scribner. We share your personal information within Scribner to efficiently and effectively provide the Website and our services, such as accounting and client support. Access to your personal information is limited to those on a need-to-know basis.
- With service providers. We share personal information with service providers that assist us in providing the Website or our services. These service providers are described more specifically in the PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT, HOW WE USE IT, AND HOW WE SHARE IT section of this Privacy Notice.
- In the event of a corporate reorganization. In the event that we enter into, or intend to enter into, a transaction that alters the structure of our business, such as a reorganization, merger, acquisition, sale, joint venture, assignment, consolidation, transfer, change of control, or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock, we would share personal information with third parties, including the buyer or target (and their agents and advisors) for the purpose of facilitating and completing the transaction. We would also share personal information with third parties if we undergo bankruptcy or liquidation, in the course of such proceedings.
- For legal purposes. We will share your personal information where we are legally required to do so, such as in response to court orders, law enforcement or legal process, including for national security purposes; to establish, protect, or exercise our legal rights, as required to enforce our terms of service or other contracts; to defend against legal claims or demands; to detect, investigate, prevent, or take action against illegal activities, fraud, or situations involving potential threats to the rights, property, or personal safety of any person; or to comply with the requirements of any applicable law.
- With your consent. Apart from the reasons identified above, we may request your permission to share your personal information for a specific purpose. We will notify you and request consent before you provide the personal information or before the personal information you have already provided is shared for such purpose. You may revoke your consent at any time.
Scribner may also share anonymized and aggregated data (“De-Identified Information”) in marketing materials. Scribner may also use De-Identified Information for commercial collaborations with private companies.
- GENERAL INFORMATION CHOICES
You have the following choices with respect to your personal information:
- Opt-out of marketing email trackers. You can disable tracking by disabling the display of images by default in your email program.
- Opt-out of marketing communications. You may opt-out of receiving marketing emails from us by clicking the “unsubscribe” link provided with each email. Please note that we will continue to send you emails necessary to the Website or any assistance or services you request.
- Opt Out of Other Cookies. All session cookies are temporary and expire after you close your web browser. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser’s directions. Please note that each web browser is different. To find information relating to your browser, visit the browser developer’s Website and mobile application. If you reset your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent, some features of our website may not function properly. The “opt-out cookie” is browser specific and device specific and only lasts until cookies are cleared from your browser or device. The opt-out cookie will not work for essential cookies. If the cookie is removed or deleted, if you upgrade your browser or if you visit us from a different computer, you will need to return and update your preferences. We do not recognize “Do Not Track” requests for internet browsers. Do Not Track is a preference you can set to inform websites and applications that you do not want to be tracked.
- INFORMATION SECURITY
We implement and maintain reasonable security measures to protect the personal information we collect and maintain from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure. These security measures include encryption and access controls. However, no security measure or modality of data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure and we are unable to guarantee the absolute security of the personal information we have collected from you.
- AGE RESTRICTION
The Website are not intended for individuals under the age of eighteen (18). If we learn that we have collected or received personal information from a child under the age of eighteen (18), we will delete that information. If you believe we might have information from or about a child under the age of eighteen (18), please contact us at info@scribner.com.
- CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY NOTICE
We may amend this Privacy Notice in our sole discretion at any time. If we do, we will post the changes to this page, and will indicate the date the changes go into effect. We encourage you to review our Privacy Notice to stay informed. If we make changes that materially affect your privacy rights, we will notify you by prominent posting on the Website, and/or via email, and request your consent, if required.
